My summer teaching English in China was one of the most memorable experiences to date. China, as a country, has so much to offer the adventurous independent traveller who relishes a challenge! Teaching overseas was something I had never thought about before so when the chance arose I jumped at it and I am so glad I did! Teaching not only gave me a chance to do something a bit different with my holiday but allowed me to truly experience the real Chinese culture and meet some really great Chinese and foreign people. The kids were great fun and with my limited knowledge of Chinese the lessons were always extremely entertaining! A particular highlight was teaching my class of 30 the British national anthem and so having 30 Chinese kids singing God save the Queen and waving the Union Jacks that they had made - it was really something I will never forget! And to top off a great two weeks of teaching, with the money I had earned, I had the opportunity to travel around China - which is something I definitely recommend!
